With the kids out of school for winter break, we needed something to do. Rocko really wanted to see a waterfall, which reminded me of the great hike at the base of Cuesta Grade, in San Luis Obispo, at Reservoir Canyon that begins with a waterfall.
When we got there, wearing our water shoes for splashing, it was so magical that we ended up on the creek bypass trail to keep exploring. It started with a bridge directly above the falls, then we kept going on a steep slick trail that Rocko insisted no other human had ever walked on before. It didn't matter that I tried to explain that a human must have made the trail...
It led around to a creek area we enjoyed for a while before we came to a road block that said Trail Closed. We wished someone had put a sign at the beginning of the trail so we'd have known that we would have to turn around and take that slippery hike back, with a hungry, tired three year old Joy.
Despite the lack of notice about the flooded portion of the trail, we had a wonderful time. Rocko and Joy said it was their best adventure.
