How could the magical beach below Shell Beach's cliffs be so empty on Memorial Day? We can't figure that out, but we did enjoy our day!
Of course we played in the sand (mainly pebbles) and looked for shells and rocks and creatures. The most special part of this visit was that Rocko insisted we go. He loves adventures and crafting. Joy currently aspires to be a mermaid and a singer and dancer.
The wind had blown the By-the-Wind Sailor (Velella velella) jellies ashore and they made up the high tide line. They were beautiful but we were heart broken to see so many dead because of an unlucky wind.
We saw the usual anemones, crabs, snails, algas, and incredible rock formations. Joy found heart shaped rocks and Rocko and I got lucky with the amount, size, and color of sea glass we were finding.
